Measurement (M)
Students understand the concept of time and units to measure it. They understand that objects have length, capacity, weight and temperature and that they can compare objects using these qualities.

Define the criteria and constraints of a design problem with sufficient precision to ensure a successful solution, taking into account relevant scientific principles and potential impacts on people and the natural environment that may limit possible solutions.
Evaluate competing design solutions using a systematic process to determine how well they meet the criteria and constraints of the problem.
Analyze data from tests to determine similarities and differences among several design solutions to identify the best characteristics of each that can be combined into a new solution to better meet the criteria for success.

The Archdiocese of Washington employs a common religion curriculum for students throughout its parishes and schools called Forming Disciples for the New Evangelization. This curriculum identifies what each child should be able to know, understand and do at each grade level. Based on the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the curriculum contains six key elements and fourteen standards or areas of learning.
